From September 20 to 23, 2019, the 7th International Conference on Smart Materials and Nanotechnology in Engineering (SMN2019) was successfully held in Harbin, China.
Smart Material is new type of material, which integrates sensing, control and driving functions and has been widely applied in aerospace, aviation, warship, architecture, civil engineering, advanced manufacturing and other fields. With the rapid development of nanotechnology, the hybrid combination of nanomaterials and smart materials is emerging as a frontier research direction in recent years, and related applications in intelligent bionics, biomedicine, robotics, flexible electronics and etc. continues fast growth.
SMN2019 is 7th of the series of successful international conferences that encompasses and bridges the rapidly evolving smart materials and the cutting-edge nanotechnology for various applications. This conference has been promoted since 2007 by Prof. Shanyi Du and Prof. Jinsong Leng, from Harbin Institute of Technology (China). Past Conference venues have been Harbin (China, 2007), Weihai (China, 2009), Shenzhen (China, 2011), Gold Coast (Australia, 2013), Vancouver (Canada, 2015) and Madrid (Spain, 2017).
Prof.Shanyi Du, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, was the honorary chairman of the conference, and Prof. Jinsong Leng, Prof.Ke Xiong, Prof. Zheng Zhong, Prof. Shaoxing Qu acted as the co-chairs of SMN2019. More than 300 delegates from over 40 universities, institutes and companies worldwide have attended the SMN2019 conference for academic communication and technical learning. Besides hundreds of oral and posters rationally arranged in nine themes, this conference also includes special activities including “Smart Structure competition” and “Best Student Paper Award” to promote interactive participations for both experts and students.
